Widener Named PA Hunger-Free Campus by PA Department of Ed

Widener was recently designated a PA Hunger-Free Campus by the Pennsylvania Department of Education in recognition of university efforts to address hunger and food insecurity amongst students.

The designation is awarded to colleges and universities that meet a number of criteria, including having a method to connect students to food options through on-campus or local food pantries or a food delivery program, and strategies in place to increase awareness of the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program.

Widener offers campus food pantries and participates in the national Swipe Out Hunger program, which includes a meal-sharing or donation effort.
