STC Mission
Instituted in 1992, the Science Teaching Center (STC) seeks to improve preK-16 science education and focus on active engagement and inquiry as guiding principles to help others understand the way the world works.
Through partnerships and programming, the center provides professional development opportunities and resources for area science educators.
Widener STEM faculty and students work collaboratively to enhance science literacy within our communities and beyond.
In addition, STC provides lesson plans developed by scientists that are implemented in Widener’s on-campus, state-of-the-art laboratory settings.
Student Experience
As a Widener student, you will join education, science, and engineering faculty members and gain hands-on experience working collaboratively to conduct research and provide teaching and learning experiences for in-service and pre-service teachers in science curricula and pedagogy: science content knowledge, technology, inquiry-based instruction, and appropriate assessment techniques.
Through the STC, you will gain the types of field experiences that will place you on the inside track to professional success.
