About Me

I am a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) originally from Fort Smith, Arkansas but I have practiced and studied in AR, NM, TX, and NC.  I  completed my Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), focusing on child language development and disorders. My dissertation explored conversational and narrative discourse during mother-child reminiscence. My research interests center on child language and literacy skills and clinical education.

In addition to my academic work, I am a practicing SLP and have worked in a variety of educational and community settings with children ages 0-18.  Through my work with Widener and the Chester Community Clinic, I continue to practice and supervise SLP students in school and clinic, focusing on connecting research and classroom learning to clinical applications.

I am an active member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and I serve on the ASHA Special Interest Group 1, Language and Literacy, professional development committee.
