CEU: Understanding and Responding to Complex Trauma in Survivors of Interpersonal Violence
- Alumni
- Community/Public
- Current Graduate Students
This presentation, "Understanding and Responding to Complex Trauma in Survivors of Interpersonal Violence," provides social workers with clinical knowledge and skills for working with survivors of prolonged or repeated trauma. It aims to help participants differentiate between PTSD and Complex PTSD (CPTSD) and analyze how complex trauma affects core domains of a client's functioning (e.g., self-perception and relationships). The training emphasizes the importance of a trauma-informed approach, focusing on stabilization techniques for client safety and self-regulation, while also addressing the critical ethical imperative of practitioner self-care and boundary setting to mitigate secondary traumatic stress.
