HEERF III — The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Student Portion Quarterly Reporting Information
- The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) is authorized by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which was signed into law on March 11, 2021. ARPA funds are in addition to funds authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA) and the Coronavirus Aid, Recovery, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Institutions who received HEERF I grant funds under the CARES Act were not required to submit an application for the HEERF II or HEERF III grant. Widener University will use no less than $4,033,738 (the student portion) of the funds received to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

In order to prioritize students with exceptional need, Widener University used the following plan to distribute the funds:

- For Spring 2023 disbursement, the method Widener University used to determine which students were eligible to receive these remaining funds was to review international students who were enrolled for both the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 Semesters as of March 8, 2023. International students were not considered in previous awards, however, it has been agreed that these students also have needs especially due to COVID.
