This article highlights Young Men and Women in Charge, a local nonprofit founded by Richard Roberts III, a three-time Widener graduate who earned degrees in the School of Engineering and School of Business Administration. The program aims to empower and prepare economically disadvantaged and historically underrepresented youth so they can pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, math, art, music, and entrepreneurship.

Dana Moore, executive director of student financial services, authored this article about a scholarship that Widener offers to graduates of the Chester-Upland School District. Under the agreement, any district high school graduate who meets Widener’s requirements for admission is guaranteed a minimum $100,000 scholarship over the course of four years.

Widener University has appointed Heather L. Meier as the new vice president for administration and finance, and chief financial officer. Meier, who brings over 15 years of higher education experience, joins from Gwynedd Mercy University, where she has held a comparable role since 2022.

Widener, in collaboration with Youth Development United and Making a Change Group, hosted Chester-area youth on campus for a hip-hop dance class led by Ijjae Hill '23 '25 and followed by a demonstration by Professor Nadine McHenry on the workings of the human heart in connection to their dancing activity.

Widener has received more than $35,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Education as part of the It’s On Us PA grant program. It’s On Us PA is a statewide campaign that invites education leaders and all Pennsylvanians to be part of the solution to protect students from sexual violence. 

President Stacey Robertson has been named a 2024 Most Admired CEO by the Philadelphia Business Journal. This list recognizes area business leaders who demonstrate outstanding leadership and performance, commitment to diversity in the workplace, contributions to the Greater Philadelphia area, and more.

Graduate student Tristan Miranda has been sworn in as a police officer with the East Windsor Police Department in New Jersey. Miranda is currently pursuing his master's degree in criminology at Widener. 

Michael Brady '97 '00 has received the excellence in business award from the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce. Brady is managing partner at Independent Advising Group, an adjunct faculty member, and former university trustee and president of the Alumni Association. 

Widener has signed an agreement with Penn State University's College of Health and Human Development which will allow qualifying Penn State undergraduates a smoother transition into Widener's graduate programs in physician assistant studies, occupational therapy or physical therapy. Jane Oeffner, director of strategic clinical partnerships, is quoted about the new partnership.
