It’s nearly over!

The end of the fall semester is in sight, and whether you’re lowkey or highkey stressed, we’ve got some tips and advice for getting through it.

Struggling is not failing. It means you are pushing yourself, and that takes courage. The sweet spot of growth is always within change and challenges.” ~ Kim Robinson, executive director of academic enrichment

Academic, Planning & Study Tips

  • Choose a dedicated study area
  • Rely on a calendar to help manage your time and responsibilities
  • Seek help and support from professors, advisors, tutors, study groups, and academic centers

You can’t change what’s already happened this semester, but you can shape how you finish it. Learn from the past weeks, refocus your energy, and give your best effort moving forward to finish strong!” ~ Alexis Kapij, associate director of academic enrichment

After Thanksgiving Break, the library will be open until 1 a.m. through Dec. 8. More time info here.

The library will also be offering free snacks for late night studying and a mindfulness table with coloring.

Self-Care & Well-Being

Your physical and emotional health is more important than your GPA. Take time to practice self-care during these stressful days. That can include:

  • Exercise
  • Meditation
  • Breathing exercises
  • Taking breaks
  • Eating well
  • Getting enough sleep
  • Leaning on loved ones for support

Be sure to find time for joy and fun—whatever that means to you.

It could be as simple as watching a movie with a friend or playing Xbox.

It’s important, especially at the busy times, to take a short break and find a moment for joy.

Reward Yourself

When it’s all over and all the assignments are in, be sure to treat yourself.

Find out how some students plan to reward themselves after all the hard work.

Topping the list: sleep, spa treatments, and spending time with family and friends.

Holidays Bring Stress

Many of us can’t wait for the end of the semester to head home for the holidays and be with family. But for others, that brings its own forms of stress, uncertainty, and emotional challenges.

Remember: your holidays don’t have to look like some picture-perfect Hallmark card. Reframe and manage expectations.

It’s perfectly okay to spend the time with friends or your chosen family. If you are alone, reach out and connect with others, such as an old friend or a next-door neighbor. And consider volunteering and sharing your time with others.
