Javontae Williams Named to Philadelphia Mayor's Commission on African American Males

Javontae Williams, applied research scientist in Center for Human Sexuality Studies, was appointed by Philadelphia Mayor James Kenney to the Mayor's Commission on African African Males. He will be representing public health and sexuality issues on the commission.

Interdisciplinary Sexuality Research Collaborative Awarded $25,000 grant from ViiV Healthcare

Widener’s Interdisciplinary Sexuality Research Collaborative (ISRC) has received a $25,000 grant from ViiV Healthcare’s ACCELERATE! Program. The grant will fund a sexual health conference in Mississippi, where the ISRC has been working to develop sexuality education resources and tools for black gay and bisexual men.

Human Sexuality Studies Researcher, Student and Graduate Honored

Tracie Gilbert, a research scientist in the Center for Human Sexuality Studies (CHSS), along with Jayleen Galarza, a CHSS graduate, and Ryan McKee, a current doctoral candidate, were chosen as the 2019 recipients of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists' Schiller Prize. They were recognized at the 2019 annual conference in Philadelphia on June 15.

Nadine McHenry Receives Chester Upland Community Partnership Award

Professor Nadine McHenry received the 2019 Chester Upland Community Partnership Award for her leadership of Widener's Community Engaged Teacher Education program. She was recognized during an awards ceremony and reception held at STEM High School on June 12.
