American Association of Colleges of Nursing

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) is the national voice for academic nursing. AACN works to establish quality standards for nursing education; assists schools in implementing those standards; influences the nursing profession to improve health care; and promotes public support for professional nursing education, research, and practice.

American Association of Nurse Practitioners

The AANP is the Widener's go-to resource for nursing students. This branching network of professionals is designed to guide nurses in all areas of their practice. From clinical resources, up-to date laws and codes, and information to defend yours and fellow colleagues' rights as practitioners, Widener's sect of the AANP is available to help nurses every step along the way.

International Council of Nurses

The International Council of Nurses (ICN) is a federation of more than 130 national nurses associations (NNAs), representing the more than 20 million nurses worldwide. Founded in 1899, ICN is the world’s first and widest reaching international organization for health professionals. Operated by nurses and leading nurses internationally, ICN works to ensure quality nursing care for all, sound health policies globally, the advancement of nursing knowledge, and the presence worldwide of a respected nursing profession and a competent and satisfied nursing workforce.

National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists

Open to:

Nursing students, registered RNs

The National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists is a membership organization devoted to advancing the unique expertise and values the clinical nurse specialist brings to delivering high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care and to reducing the cost of health care delivery. NACNS has more than 2,000 members and represents the more than 70,000 clinical nurse specialists working in hospitals and health systems, clinics and ambulatory settings and colleges and universities today.

National League for Nursing (NLN)

Open to:

Graduate nursing students, nurse educators

The National League for Nursing is the premier organization for nurse faculty and leaders in nursing education. The NLN offers professional development, networking opportunities, testing services, nursing research grants, and public policy initiatives to its 40,000 individual and 1,200 institutional members. NLN members represent nursing education programs across the spectrum of higher education, health care organizations, and agencies.

The Pennsylvania Organization of Nurse Leaders (PONL) is a non-profit, personal membership society that promotes excellence in the practice of nursing administration. Our primary mission is to be a vehicle for networking and information exchange among our members.

Sigma, Eta Beta chapter, is an international honor society of nursing. Its mission is to advance world health and celebrate nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service.

Widener Alumni Nursing Network (WANN)

Open to:

School of Nursing alumni

All students in the School of Nursing are members of the Widener University Student Nurses Association (WUSNA). Once graduating, they automatically become members of WANN. There are no dues required!

Widener University Student Nurses' Association (WUSNA)

Open to:

Undergraduate nursing students

WUSNA is the Widener University Student Nurses’ Association and it is proudly run by the students of Widener University. It is an opportunity for nursing students to become intellectually engaged in events with their local school chapter, their community, and at the state level.
