Our LGBTQ+ community members are welcome and valued members of our Widener campus, and we strive to provide the support and resources they need to succeed.

At Widener, you will find a campus that supports all of its members, regardless of their gender or sexual identity. Our campus is home to a vibrant LGBTQ+ community, with numerous programs, initiatives, services, student organizations, and events that support, educate, and create a real feeling of home.

LGBT Task Force

Our LGBT Task Force promotes our commitment to diversity and inclusion, particularly on issues related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression. This group, which includes faculty, administrators, staff, and students, meets regularly to address issues affecting the welfare of the campus community.

Pride. Abounds.

Our Safe Space Ally program offers numerous safe places on campus for you to come if you're experiencing any difficulties concerning bullying or harassment, the coming out process, gender identity, or related issues. These are judgment-free zones where trained allies will listen, assist you in working through an issue, and offer additional resources as needed. More than 130 faculty and staff members across our three campuses have been recognized as safe space allies. Faculty in our well-regarded human sexuality studies program help facilitate the training workshops. 

We have a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion throughout campus, including in our residence halls and other living-learning spaces. Our all-gender housing option challenges the gender binary and creates an accessible option for students who identify as transgender, non-binary, are questioning their gender identity, or do not wish to subscribe to gender classifications. You have the option to live in a space and have roommates/suitemates regardless of gender identity. We welcome discussion with you so that we can meet your individual and specific needs.

We are also home to a number of all-gender restrooms, and are working to establish more across campus buildings and facilities.

Clubs & Organizations

Student-run clubs and organizations, such as the vibrant Sexuality and Gender Alliance (SAGA), provide a place for support, friendship, and discussion in an open and non-confrontational setting.

Human Sexuality Studies

We're proud to be home to well-known and highly-regarded graduate and certificate programs in human sexuality studies, including one of the only doctoral programs at a fully accredited university in the United States. Our program attracts students from across the country, and places graduates on the inside track to successful and fulfilling careers as educators, clinicians, therapists, researchers, and sexuality professionals.
