The Mechanical Engineering Department provides an education that is postured for a dynamic and highly progressive field that touches all areas of modern technology with practical applications in industry, government, and research. Students are exposed to core curriculum that stresses fundamentals, including strength of materials, machine design, kinematics and dynamics of machinery, vibrations, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and the design of fluid-thermal systems.

Philosophy Department

Provost's Office

As the university's chief academic officer, the provost is responsible for working collaboratively with the associate provosts, school deans, faculty, staff, and administrators to achieve the institution’s academic priorities. The provost also has direct responsibility for all academic support units and works with the president, chief financial officer, and academic leaders allocating financial resources to address Widener’s academic and financial health.

Psychology Department

The Psychology Department prepares students who plan to work in almost every field. Psychology majors study human behavior, and because almost every career requires interacting with others, you’ll find psychology graduates working in business, education, health, urban planning and design, sports, and public safety.

Public Administration Graduate Program

The master of public administration (MPA) program provides graduate education and training for individuals seeking to develop and refine skills that enhance job performance, create new opportunities, and strengthen prospects for career advancement in public service-oriented organizations in government and the non-profit sector. The program can be completed at a part-time or full-time pace.  The program features small class sizes and diverse enrollment. Courses are scheduled during weekday evenings and are offered via a live online format.

The Robotics Engineering Department prepares students for a future in robotics, which is expanding at an accelerated pace into almost every industry, including aerospace, agriculture, automotive, chemical, defense, electronics, energy, health care, homeland security, manufacturing, nuclear, pharmaceutical, and transportation. This multidisciplinary program integrates knowledge from various areas such as smart sensors, controls, and electrical and mechanical engineering.
