Education Major Explores Italian Heritage and Broadens Horizons through “Voyage of Discovery”
Traveling abroad can be an important part of the student experience. For Gianni DiMatteo ’24, he found academic and personal ties on a trip to Italy.
I received my undergraduate degree from LaSalle University and my doctorate degree from Temple University. My area of specialization is 16th- and 17th-century theater and the exchange of theatrical components, particularly the spectacle between Spain and Italy. My research had centered on the drama celebrating Greek and Roman myths and their "refashioning" with the ethos of Renaissance/Baroque Italy and Spain.
My research interests include mythological theater of 16th and 17th centuries in Spain and Italy, missionary theater, theater of colonization, meta-theater, Italian cinema, time and space in theater and cinema, and Spanish Golden Age literature.
