The online graduate certificate in practices in trauma recovery curriculum includes:

  • 4, 14-week courses
  • 8 monthly day-long trauma workshops
  • 8 monthly 2-hour supervision seminars

The curriculum has a unique trauma informed focus, intensive group supervision, and is designed to build clinical skills.

Admissions Information

No GRE/GMAT Required

  • Resume  
  • Statement of purpose 
  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or an MSW from a CSWE-accredited institution  
  • Official transcripts from every college-level institution attended 
  • Must currently be in a clinical placement or work environment

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. For entry into the fall 2023 certificate program, please submit your application materials by June 1st.

To complete the application process, you'll need to prepare the following items:

  • Completed online application form
  • Resume
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Official college transcripts from each school you've attended

If you are selected as a top candidate for the certificate program, you will receive an invite to one of admissions interview days held over Zoom.

Here’s what you’ll need to apply: 

  • A completed online application  
  • Statement of purpose 
  • Unofficial transcript from Widener with current class schedule listed
  • Must currently be in a clinical placement or work environment during certificate

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Apply to the semester you are starting your specialization (2nd year) field placement (Example: If you are starting your field placement in Fall 2024, you would apply for the Trauma Recovery Certificate starting in Fall 2024). Deadlines for applications for each semester are listed as:

  • Fall start of the certificate program, application materials are due by June 1st
  • Spring start of the program, application material are due by November 1st
  • Summer start of the program, application materials are due by March 1st
