Many communities such as Chester are extremely underserved when it comes to mental health services. That makes it difficult for much of the population in need of such services to access them. For this reason, there are many undiagnosed and untreated cases of mental illness in the community. Those of us in the social work profession have a responsibility to use our voice to advocate for those whose voices have been muted.

This event focuses on equitable treatment of individuals and families as well as social justice, and how to service those in need with competence and compassion. Attendees will better understand the disparities that currently exists and have existed for years in mental health services. Participants will better understand which communities are most affected by these disparities and understand the need for social workers and other mental health professionals to advocate for more equitable treatment for individuals and families affected by the disparities in mental health services.
