The Center for Human Sexuality Studies (CHSS) offers radically inclusive programs rooted in academic excellence and a culture of belonging.

Empowering Students to Challenge Social Norms, Innovate Across Industries, & Advocate with Empathy

Through programs designed for educators, clinicians, policy advocates, and community changemakers, we're leading the pack as one of the first-nationally recognized centers for the study of human sexuality at a fully-accredited university in the United States.

From the groundbreaking research of the Interdisciplinary Sexuality Research Collaborative (ISRC) to powerful practicum placements and faculty who are dedicated to the details of your academic interests and goals, you'll find a dynamic education here. Degree programs are offered in a hybrid format, so you'll experience both the flexibility of online learning plus the hands-on training necessary to help real clients thrive.

Our graduates are pioneering sexologists who take on leadership roles worldwide as clinicians, educators, and sexuality researchers. You'll collaborate with (and eventually join) this meaningful, engaged alumni network to break barriers in local and global clinics, communities, and classrooms.

Explore the people, programs, and resources that define our culture at CHSS. We can't wait for you to join us.

A Closer Look at Human Sexuality Studies at Widener

Learn Beyond the Classroom

Our education emphasizes practical experience, so you'll complete a practicum requirement that applies your classroom knowledge to real-world clients, students, and organizations. We'll help you find the best placement to fit your career goals and personal needs, and a faculty member will supervise and mentor you throughout your placement.

In addition to your field education, the Center for Human Sexuality Studies operates the Interdisciplinary Sexuality Research Collaborative (ISRC), where you can assist in applying research to shape innovation in sexuality education. You'll also find a plethora of research material in the library's Sexuality Archives that will aid in independent research projects.

Our faculty are highly-skilled practitioners and educators who can be found influencing policy, conducting de-stigmatizing sexuality research, and performing at our latest drag brunch. They're passionate about your personal success and provide mentorship, feedback, and support during your studies and even after graduation.

Widener gave me the skill set and education I needed to become the sex doctor I always dreamt of being. I am excited to see where the program goes, and the many more brilliant people who come from it.

I think that knowledge about sex education and human sexuality genuinely saves lives, so you shouldn’t try to hide it from people.
