Committed to helping our community succeed, we are proud to provide a wide range of support services for our students and faculty staff that encompass LGBTQIA+, accessibility, interfaith beliefs and practices, and more.
At Widener, we are proud to have a campus that supports and celebrates members of all gender identities and expressions, and all sexual orientations. Our campus is home to a vibrant LGBTQ+ community, with numerous programs, initiatives, services, student organizations, and events that support, educate, and create a real feeling of home.
Our Safe Space Ally program offers numerous safe places on campus for you to come to if you're experiencing any difficulties concerning bullying or harassment, the coming out process, gender identity, or related issues. These are judgment-free zones where trained allies will listen, assist you in working through an issue, and offer additional resources as needed. More than 130 faculty and staff members across our three campuses have been recognized as safe space allies. Faculty in our well-regarded human sexuality studies program help facilitate the training workshops.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion throughout campus, including in our residence halls and other living-learning spaces. Our gender-inclusive housing option challenges the gender binary and creates an accessible option for students who are transgender, non-binary, are questioning their gender identity, or do not subscribe to gender classifications. You have the option to live in a space and have roommates/suitemates regardless of gender identity. We welcome discussion with you so that we can meet your individual and specific needs.
Fall 2022, we opened a gender-inclusive house at 505 E. 13th St. specifically intended to provide an affirming living environment and community for our LGBTQIA+ students. This house features a lounge, the Sexuality and Gender Alliance (SAGA) office, and a Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA) satellite office.
Many of our buildings feature all-gender restrooms, and we are working to establish more locations across campus. To view these locations on the campus map, visit our maps and directions page.

Our LGBTQIA+ Advisory Group promotes our commitment to diversity and inclusion, particularly on issues related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. This group, which includes faculty, administrators, staff, and students, meets regularly to address issues affecting the welfare of the campus community.
