Latinos Unidos is a student-run organization that promotes the awareness of diversity throughout Hispanic cultures. We are devoted to emphasizing the importance of heritage and our ability to connect and form a strong fellowship within our Widener community and surrounding Chester community. Phi Alpha Theta - National History Honor Society

Open to:

Undergraduate students

Clubs and organizations at Widener are welcome to everyone. The History Honors Society, Phi Alpha Theta, recognizes outstanding achievement in the field of history. Widener’s chapter, Alpha Eta Mu, was established in 1994 and its members have presented at the organization’s national and regional conferences. Membership is by invitation only and all Widener undergraduates who have taken four history courses are eligible.

Phi Lambda Upsilon- Chemistry Honor Society

Undergraduate and graduate students

Clubs and organizations at Widener are welcome to everyone. Phi Lambda Upsilon is a nationally recognized honorary chemical society for undergraduate and graduate chemistry, biochemistry and chemical engineering students for the promotion of high scholarship and original investigation in all branches of pure and applied chemistry. Widener junior/senior undergraduates that have excelled in completing 30 hours of coursework in chemistry, biochemistry , or chemical engineering can be nominated.

Physics and Astronomy Club

Clubs and organizations at Widener are welcome to everyone. The Physics and Astronomy Club brings together students and faculty who have shared knowledge and interests in current physics topics. Students in this club have access to Widener's Observatory.

Pi Sigma Alpha - National Political Science Honor Society

Clubs and organizations at Widener are welcome to everyone. Pi Sigma Alpha is the national Political Science Honors Society. It is open to political science or international relations majors and minors with a junior or senior status that have achieved academic distinction. The organization is dedicated to raising awareness of issues related to political science. The Upsilon Kappa Chapter at Widener was founded during the 1994-1995 academic year.

Pre-Law Society

Clubs and organizations at Widener are welcome to everyone. The Pre-Law Society focuses on helping students achieve their goal of getting into and succeeding at law school. Each month, the Pre-Law Society sponsors a meeting featuring invited guests, such as practicing attorneys, LSAT-preparation specialists, and representatives from our two law schools. Additionally, the Society organizes social events and field trips, such as to the U.S. Supreme Court and the state capital in Harrisburg, PA.

Psi Chi – The International Honor Society in Psychology

Open to:

Undergraduate students majoring or minoring in Psychology, graduate students, and faculty members

Clubs and organizations at Widener are welcome to everyone. Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, is an organization of professionals, scientists, faculty, students, and alumni whose mission is to recognize and promote excellence in the science and application of psychology.  Undergraduate students are eligible to apply for membership if they are a second-semester sophomore with an established GPA that places then in the top 35% of their class and is at least 3.00 on a 4-point scale.

Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA)

Open to:

Undergraduate students

Clubs and organizations at Widener are welcome to everyone. Students considering a career in public relations, advertising, integrated marketing communications, social media, event planning, and business communication should join the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). Widener PRSSA members network with guest speakers, alumni, and other PRSSA chapters in the Philadelphia region. PRSSA members have numerous leadership opportunities and make professional industry connections prior to graduation.

SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Alliance)

This undergraduate-student organization is dedicated to promoting diversity and good health for all people, especially in the LGBTQ+ community. SAGA strives to build a community where students can make new friends in a safe and supportive environment. Meetings and events provide a mixture of discussion time, club business, activities, and encouraging conversations to help one another to feel welcome at Widener. Sigma Pi Sigma - Physics Honor Society

Clubs and organizations at Widener are welcome to everyone. Sigma Pi Sigma is the official honors society of the physics profession. Membership is restricted to colleges and universities that offer a strong physics major. At Widener, students who show outstanding scholarship in physics are elected.

Sigma Tau Delta - English Honor Society

Sigma Tau Delta is the International English Honor Society. It confers distinction for high achievement in English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies.

Sociology Club

The Sociology Club is an organization that provides undergraduate students with opportunities to host on-campus events, off-campus outings, and community service projects that expand students' knowledge of, and experiences related to, the discipline of sociology. The Blue Route

Clubs and organizations at Widener are welcome to everyone. The Blue Route is an online undergraduate literary journal run by Widener students and faculty that publishes short fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction written by undergraduate writers from any school other than our own. There is a great deal of emerging talent in the undergraduate population that is showcased in the journal. Contributors are paid $25 upon publication.

The FreshBaked Theatre Company

Clubs and organizations at Widener are welcome to everyone. A performance ensemble for audiences of all ages, The FreshBaked Theatre Company is dedicated to exploring "as honestly and responsibly as possible the dilemmas and celebrations that life throws at young people in this incredibly complicated world." Past performances of The FreshBaked Theatre Company include: Romeo and Juliet; The Legend of Sleepy Hollow; Goodbye, Marianne; and The Odyssey.

The Lone Brick Theatre Company

The Lone Brick Theatre Company is Widener’s resident theatre company dedicated to producing nontraditional theater through innovative scripts, staging, directing, and performance. All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to join in this up-and-coming theatre group. Past performances of The Lone Brick Theatre Company include: Very Still & Hard to See; Dissever My Soul; Distracted; Lysistrata. Clubs and organizations at Widener are welcome to everyone.

Widener Dance Company

The Widener Dance Company is a student-run organization at Widener University! The Company strives to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all undergraduate and graduate students within the Widener community. WDC believes in using our passion for dance to create a safe and welcoming space for students to express their creativity and relieve stress, using the art of dance. We offer something for everyone, with classes in the genres of hip hop, modern, spoken word, ballet, contemporary, tap, musical theater and more! Clubs and organizations at Widener are welcome to everyone.

We offer many student leadership positions between our executive board, chairs, and our student-taught classes.  We also offer the opportunity for members to create their own small groups to be performed at our recital.

WDC offers a multitude of events each year such as Recital showcases, performances, master classes, arts & craft events, and more. 

Widener Film & Broadcasting

Undergraduate students who have completed COMS 260 or have special permission

Widener Sports Network and WUFilms provide additional out-of-the-classroom opportunities for advanced students to develop their skills in broadcasting, live sports coverage, film directing and production, and screenwriting. Students are encouraged to work with industry-standard equipment to cover live sporting events on the playing field. Advanced film students create documentaries and short films for film festivals and other competitions. Clubs and organizations at Widener are welcome to everyone.

Widener Ink

Widener Ink, a literary journal published each spring, takes student submissions of fiction, poetry, nonfiction, drama, and art. Additionally, working on the journal's staff gives students hands-on experience in editing and publishing. Clubs and organizations at Widener are welcome to everyone.
