Feel accepted, valued, included, and encouraged by others.

Belonging helps create a sense of community and connection on campus, encouraging you to reach out and connect with peers, faculty, and staff. It can also help you maintain a sense of purpose and direction as you navigate your college experience. Belonging provides support, builds relationships, and helps you stay involved on campus. When you feel like you belong, you are more likely to stick with your studies and get the most out of your college experience.

At Widener, we wholeheartedly celebrate and honor what makes each person unique, whether you're a student, faculty member, or staff member. Regardless of your race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual identity, socioeconomic status, ability, religion, or political affiliation, we warmly welcome you into our community with open arms and provide a nurturing environment.

Prepare to connect with inspiring peers and dedicated faculty who will not only challenge your perspectives but also ignite your personal growth, leaving you with treasured memories that will last a lifetime. Together, we will joyfully embrace our differences and embark on an incredible voyage of exploration, enlightenment, and self-discovery.

We understand the importance of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), not only to our students but also to our entire community. That's why we are committed to providing you with access to a wide range of resources and comprehensive support across campus, ensuring that our environment remains inclusive and welcoming for all.

Prioritizing Your Mental Health

Mental health affects every aspect of our lives.

From how we interact with people to learning and performing in our studies. College can be a challenging time, full of stress, change, and new experiences. Taking care of your mental health can help you to better manage stress, cope with difficult situations, and ultimately get the most out of college life. It is important to recognize signs of mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression, and to seek help when needed.

Through our on-campus Counseling and Psychological Services, our staff of licensed clinicians, and counselors, will help you address personal, emotional, or social concerns. Confidential individual counseling and psychotherapy services are provided.

At CAPS, our primary focus is on creating individually tailored treatment plans that promote the health and well-being of the whole student. We aim to foster a strong sense of belonging and enhance academic success. Our goal is to provide personalized care that addresses the unique needs of each student, helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.

In addition to individual therapy, CAPS offers a variety of services including:

  • Supervising trainees specializing in psychology or other mental health fields
  • Daily walk-in hours
  • Crisis intervention
  • Workshops and mental health trainings
  • Consultation to faculty, staff, families, and outside care providers
