Alpha Chi Sigma

Undergraduate students

Alpha Chi Sigma is a co-ed professional fraternity that works to bind its members with a tie of true and lasting friendship, while striving for the advancement of chemistry both as a science and as a profession, and aid its members in attaining their ambitions as chemists. Widener’s Gamma Omega colony was established in late 2007 and was granted chapter status in May 2012.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA)

Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Inc., is committed to fostering and encouraging high academic and ethical standards, promoting unity and friendship, and helping to alleviate problems concerning women to improve their social stature, maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of service to all mankind. The Tau Alpha Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is chartered on the campus of Widener University.

Alpha Mu Gamma - International Modern Language Honor Society

Hours of Operation:

Alpha Mu Gamma is the first and largest national collegiate foreign language honor society of the United States to recognize exceptional achievements in all foreign languages.

Alpha Omega Epsilon

Alpha Omega Epsilon is a professional and social sorority of female engineering and technical science students from across the globe. The sorority promotes ideals that further the advancement of its members and builds a foundation for lifelong bonds of sisterhood though promoting understanding, knowledge, and communication within professions.

Alpha Phi Omega

Alpha Phi Omega is a co-ed service fraternity built on the principles of the Scout Oath and Law. We strive to cultivate leadership, develop friendships, and facilitate service within our chapter and the Widener community as a whole. Through our three Cardinal Principles of Leadership, Friendship, and Service, we are able to give back to our four C's: Chapter, Campus, Community, and Country.

Alpha Phi Sigma - Criminal Justice Honor Society

Open to:

Undergraduate and graduate criminal justice students

Alpha Phi Sigma recognizes academic achievement of undergraduate and graduate criminal justice students. To apply for membership, undergraduate students must have completed four criminal justice courses and have a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, with a minimum GPA of 3.2 in criminal justice courses. Graduate students must also have completed four criminal justice courses (three undergraduate courses can count towards the 4 course minimum) and have a minimum GPA of 3.4.

Alpha Tau Omega (ATO)

Alpha Tau Omega is America's leadership and development fraternity that promotes the growth of young men and provides unique opportunities on campus and beyond. ATO members forge lifelong relationships with strong ties to the importance of brotherhood.

Alpha Upsilon Alpha

Undergraduate and graduate students in education programs

Alpha Upsilon Alpha, the honor society of the International Literacy Association, recognizes and encourages scholarship, the development of personal and professional leadership, and service to the field of reading at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Members are acknowledged for having excelled in their chosen field of study, and are recognized as professionals committed to the importance of reading and language arts in education.

Alternative Spring Break (ASB)

The Alternative Spring Break Program is a student-run organization that offers life-changing opportunities to spend spring break on service trips helping people and communities around the country.

American Association of Colleges of Nursing

Open to:

All nursing students, faculty and staff

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) is the national voice for academic nursing. AACN works to establish quality standards for nursing education; assists schools in implementing those standards; influences the nursing profession to improve health care; and promotes public support for professional nursing education, research, and practice.

American Association of Nurse Practitioners

The AANP is the Widener's go-to resource for nursing students. This branching network of professionals is designed to guide nurses in all areas of their practice. From clinical resources, up-to date laws and codes, and information to defend yours and fellow colleagues' rights as practitioners, Widener's sect of the AANP is available to help nurses every step along the way.  

 

American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE)

Undergraduate and graduate students

The AIChE is the professional society that represents the interests of chemical engineers in their careers, as well as the profession as a whole. Widener's student chapter gives chemical engineering students the opportunity to broaden their exposure to the profession by such things as field trips, speaking engagements by engineering professionals, and local and national conferences.

American Nurses Association

The American Nurses Association (ANA) is the premier organization representing the interests of the nation's 4 million registered nurses. ANA is at the forefront of improving the quality of health care for all. Founded in 1896, and with members in all 50 states and U.S. territories, ANA is the strongest voice for the profession.

American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)

Open to:

Undergraduate and graduate students

Widener’s student chapter of ASCE is affiliated with the national ASCE organization. ASCE's mission is to develop leadership, advance technology, advocate lifelong learning, and promote the civil engineering profession. Our student chapter provides students with opportunities to meet and network with professionals, obtain internships and scholarships, participate in civil engineering competitions and field trips, and just have fun!

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)

Open to:

Undergraduate and graduate students

This is the flagship professional society for the mechanical engineering field. Engineers from all disciplines, such as biomechanics, automotive engineering, and aerospace engineering are part of this society. Philadelphia’s ASME chapter provides programming for student societies such as design competitions, as well as seminars and professional meetings.

Amnesty International

Open to:

Undergraduate students

The Widener chapter of Amnesty International is dedicated to ensuring people throughout the world are guaranteed their basic human rights. The group meets to discuss current issues related to human rights abuses, brings in speakers, and engages in advocacy campaigns. It is open to students of any major who are interested in furthering the cause of global human rights.

Anthropology Club

The Anthropology Club is a community for all majors, minors, and those interested in the field of anthropology. The club promotes diversity and cultural awareness on campus, hosting activities and fundraisers. The group also travels domestically and abroad to learn about other cultures firsthand.

Association of Business Process Management Professionals (ABPMP)

Open to:

Graduate students

ABPMP Philadelphia is a chapter of the Association of Business Process Management Professional (ABPMP). ABPMP is a non-profit, vendor independent professional organization dedicated to the advancement of business process management and process transformation concepts and its practices. ABPMP Philadelphia conducts speaker events on Widener's campus and supports student participation by allowing free admission and membership to students. Students have the opportunity to network with industry professionals and learn about process transformation and analytics deployments in organizations.
