Men's Volleyball (Varsity)

Started in 2017, the Pride is a charter member in men's volleyball in the Middle Atlantic Conference and continues to make forward progress on an annual basis.

Money Club

Open to:

All students

The Money Club is responsible for managing the student managed investment fund. Students serve as portfolio managers who monitor the fund’s performance and make buy and sell recommendations to members of an investment committee. Club members travel to Wall Street, visit Philadelphia to see the Stock Exchange, and network with professionals to learn best practices in finance.

National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW)

Open to:

Undergrate and graduate social work students of African decent.

Widener’s Chapter of NABSW is a joint undergraduate and graduate student organization for those of African descent involved in social support, networking, and community service. The group advocates for social change, justice, and human development of African people here in the United States and throughout the world.

National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists

Open to:

Nursing students, registered RNs

The National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists is a membership organization devoted to advancing the unique expertise and values the clinical nurse specialist brings to delivering high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care and to reducing the cost of health care delivery. NACNS has more than 2,000 members and represents the more than 70,000 clinical nurse specialists working in hospitals and health systems, clinics and ambulatory settings and colleges and universities today.

National Council of Negro Women (NCNW)

Open to:

Undergraduate students

The Widener University Section of NCNW seeks to educate, empower, motivate, and unify minority women, as well as all women, at Widener. This organization provides networking and job opportunities, the ability to establish mentor relationships, entrepreneurial support, civic engagement, and more with the goal to empower women.

National League for Nursing (NLN)

Open to:

Graduate nursing students, nurse educators

The National League for Nursing is the premier organization for nurse faculty and leaders in nursing education. The NLN offers professional development, networking opportunities, testing services, nursing research grants, and public policy initiatives to its 40,000 individual and 1,200 institutional members. NLN members represent nursing education programs across the spectrum of higher education, health care organizations, and agencies.

National Pan Hellenic Council (NPHC)

Open to:

Undergraduate students

The National Pan-Hellenic Council focuses on uniting its member organizations through mutual respect and equality. NPHC advocates the 
needs and interests of all member organizations to advance and support their independent and mutual goals, while providing a forum for  communication and collaboration to encourage cooperation and harmony amongst member organizations.

Omega Chi Epsilon (OXE) - National Honor Society for Chemical Engineering

Undergraduate students

Omega Chi Epsilon is an honor society that recognizes chemical engineering students who have compiled an outstanding undergraduate academic record. It is generally considered to be the top honor society specifically dedicated to chemical engineers.

Outdoor Adventure Club

The Outdoor Adventure Club is for anyone who loves nature and the outdoors. Numerous events from hiking and biking to rock climbing and kayaking (and all things in between) provide students with opportunities to experience the outdoors firsthand.

Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA)

The accounting program has a long-standing relationship with the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). Students who attend meetings of this professional organization are offered free student memberships. Membership is open to all School of Business Administration students.

Phi Alpha Theta - National History Honor Society

Open to:

Undergraduate students

The History Honors Society, Phi Alpha Theta, recognizes outstanding achievement in the field of history. Widener’s chapter, Alpha Eta Mu, was established in 1994 and its members have presented at the organization’s national and regional conferences. Membership is by invitation only and all Widener undergraduates who have taken four history courses are eligible.

Phi Alpha ΦΑ - National Social Work Honor Society

Open to:

Undergraduate and graduate social work students who attained excellence in scholarship

The purpose of Phi Alpha Honor Society is to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideas. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work. Undergraduate and graduate social work students who have completed 9 semester hours of required social work courses or at least 37.5% of the total hours/credits required for the degree, whichever is later achieved, and rank in the top 35% of their class can join.

Phi Lambda Upsilon- Chemistry Honor Society

Open to:

Undergraduate and graduate students

Phi Lambda Upsilon is a nationally recognized honorary chemical society for undergraduate and graduate chemistry, biochemistry and chemical engineering students for the promotion of high scholarship and original investigation in all branches of pure and applied chemistry. Widener junior/senior undergraduates that have excelled in completing 30 hours of coursework in chemistry, biochemistry , or chemical engineering can be nominated.

Phi Sigma Sigma

Phi Sigma Sigma is a sorority passionately committed to academic careers and Widener's campus community, while also expressing individuality and sharing what each member has in common. Phi Sigma Sigma promotes leadership and allows members to excel in their community and become role models for others.

Physics and Astronomy Club

The Physics and Astronomy Club brings together students and faculty who have shared knowledge and interests in current physics topics. Students in this club have access to Widener's Observatory.

Pi Sigma Alpha - National Political Science Honor Society

Pi Sigma Alpha is the national Political Science Honors Society. It is open to political science or international relations majors and minors with a junior or senior status that have achieved academic distinction. The organization is dedicated to raising awareness of issues related to political science. The Upsilon Kappa Chapter at Widener was founded during the 1994-1995 academic year.

Pi Sigma Epsilon (PSE)

Undergraduate students

Pi Sigma Epsilon is the only national, professional fraternity for marketing, sales, and management. As a member of PSE, students enjoy a national awards and scholarship program, national speakers, competitions, career fairs, and national conventions. Meet-and-greet events are offered on campus during which students learn how to network, how to talk in public, and how to negotiate for a job.
