Clubs & Organizations

The Pre-Law Society focuses on helping students achieve their goal of getting into and succeeding at law school. Each month, the Pre-Law Society sponsors a meeting featuring invited guests, such as practicing attorneys, LSAT-preparation specialists, and representatives from our two law schools. Additionally, the Society organizes social events and field trips, such as to the U.S. Supreme Court and the state capital in Harrisburg, PA.

Pride Activities Council enhances student and campus life by providing high-quality, student-driven social, educational, cultural, and recreational programs and activities for the Widener community. PAC welcomes its members to plan weekly events while also encouraging students to be engaged in them and to promote a fulfilling college experience.

The Pride Pack Dance Team is a dance organization filled with spirit that helps cheer on Widener sports teams at athletic competitions. Pride Pack enables students to create bonds with each other and to promote enthusiasm for their peers.

The Pro Bono National Honor Society recognizes those undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate commitment to providing underserved clients and communities with quality healthcare services in their field of study while maintaining the standards and requirements of their curriculums and their professions. The Pro Bono National Honor Society aims to encourage the development of altruism and social responsibility.

Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, is an organization of professionals, scientists, faculty, students, and alumni whose mission is to recognize and promote excellence in the science and application of psychology.  Undergraduate students are eligible to apply for membership if they are a second-semester sophomore with an established GPA that places then in the top 35% of their class and is at least 3.00 on a 4-point scale.

Psychology Noir is an affinity group (student-initiated organization that has a formal tie to the Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology). Psychology Noir serves as an empowering vehicle for the African American graduate psychology students to support one another. The purpose of the group is to provide its members with care, support, and enrichment during and after their matriculation from IGCP.

Psychology Students for Social Responsibility (PsySSR) is a student group formed under the national organization, Psychologists for Social Responsibility (PsySR), to promote social justice as clinical psychologists in training within IGCP. PsySR includes six related programs to advance social justice through the lens of psychology, addressing human rights, climate change/sustainability, violence/war, peacebuilding, social health/wellbeing, and education.

Students considering a career in public relations, advertising, integrated marketing communications, social media, event planning, and business communication should join the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). Widener PRSSA members network with guest speakers, alumni, and other PRSSA chapters in the Philadelphia region. PRSSA members have numerous leadership opportunities and make professional industry connections prior to graduation.

The Q&A is a digital zine devoted to all forms of queer expression. From prose to poetry to photography to painting, the Q&A showcases writing and visual art by LGBTQ+ individuals from around the world.

The Residents Hall Association is a group of students dedicated to creating a better living environment for the campus residential community. RHA holds events to promote interactions between the residents and promotes a fun and safe environment for the students living on campus.

This undergraduate-student organization is dedicated to promoting diversity and good health for all people, especially in the LGBTQ+ community. SAGA strives to build a community where students can make new friends in a safe and supportive environment. Meetings and events provide a mixture of discussion time, club business, activities, and encouraging conversations to help one another to feel welcome at Widener.

The Secondary Education Affinity Group is committed to the ongoing communication, networking, and gathering of secondary education students and alumni.

Sigma Pi Sigma is the official honors society of the physics profession. Membership is restricted to colleges and universities that offer a strong physics major. At Widener, students who show outstanding scholarship in physics are elected.

Tri Sigma is a sorority focused on advancement and success and offers valuable leadership and personal development experiences throughout the lifetime of a member. All programming is based on the fundamental mission of establishing a perpetual bond of friendship, developing strong, womanly characteristics, and impressing a high standard of conduct.

Sigma Tau Delta is the International English Honor Society. It confers distinction for high achievement in English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies.

Sigma, Eta Beta chapter, is an international honor society of nursing. Its mission is to advance world health and celebrate nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service.

SWE helps to create personal relationships, support systems, and networking between women in engineering, and runs programs to show females of all ages that engineers work to solve real-world problems and improve the quality of life for all. Widener’s student section of SWE runs a highly popular and award-winning camp to introduce high school girls to the many possibilities of a career in engineering.

The Sociology Club is an organization that provides undergraduate students with opportunities to host on-campus events, off-campus outings, and community service projects that expand students' knowledge of, and experiences related to, the discipline of sociology.

Under the direction of Widener legend, Fred Dohrmann, the Pride has continued to advance deep into conference tournaments and compete for MAC championships on an annual basis.

The Student Government Association is the main liaison between students and the university’s senior administration, and is a unique opportunity to empower its members and others. SGA promotes the leadership of students, giving them the unique opportunity to take on high-level responsibilities for their campus.
