Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Club

Open to:

Undergraduate social work students

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Club provides a setting for students to explore social work outside of the classroom. The BSW Club engages in a variety of social and service-orientated projects designed and implemented by students. Throughout the year, club members reach out to provide much needed community service to the Widener community and the residents of Chester and surrounding areas.

Beta Aphi Psi - Intl Honor Society for Financial Information Students & Professionals

Open to:

Undergraduate students

Beta Alpha Psi is an international honors organization for accounting, finance, and information systems students and professionals. It provides opportunities for development of technical and professional skills; participation in community service; and interaction among students, faculty, and professionals. Our chapter holds two induction ceremonies a year, and inductees are invited to meet and learn from industry speakers and attend networking events.

Beta Beta Beta - Biological Honors Society

Open to:

Undergraduate students

The Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society admits students with an overall GPA of 2.75 or higher and a GPA of 3.0 or higher in biology courses. To join, students must be nominated by the biology faculty, have status as a second semester sophomore, and have made at least one biological research presentation in a public forum. Biology students engaged in collaborative research with faculty members may also apply for research grants through the national Beta Beta Beta organization.

Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS)

Undergraduate seniors and graduate students

Beta Gamma Sigma is the International Honor Society of AACSB accredited Business Programs Recognizing Business Excellence. Both senior undergraduates and graduate students achieving high academic performance are invited to join Beta Gamma Sigma. There is an annual induction ceremony every spring semester during Honors Week.

Biochemistry Club

Members of the Biochemistry Club are biochemistry, biology, chemistry, and engineering majors who want to explore the application of science in everyday life. Activities include lunchtime talks from research scientists with Q&A sessions, science-themed movie nights followed by interactive discussions with faculty, and field trips to local science-related venues such as the Franklin Institute and Mutter Museum.

Biology Club

The Biology Club is open to any student who has an interest in biology. The club conducts monthly noon meetings (where pizza is a never-changing fare) that serve as social gatherings and informational assemblies to conduct the business of the club. The Biology Club takes field trips to places such as the National Zoo in Washington D.C. and aquariums in Baltimore or Camden.

Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES)

Undergraduate and graduate students

The student chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) promotes the practice of biomedical engineering through guest speakers and national conferences. This student chapter also encourages its members to be actively involved within the biomedical engineering community, in turn providing them with possible employment opportunities and connections.

Black Men United (BMU)

Undergraduate students

Black Men United's purpose is to uplift and educate the Widener community through becoming better men in society, as they seek to acknowledge, educate, and unite African American men on campus. The organization's main focus is the African American male population at Widener while also welcoming members of any race, sex, and ethnicity.

Black Student Union (BSU)

Undergraduate students

The Black Student Union promotes activities of common interest for black and multicultural students, providing a “home away from home,” building a sense of comradery and community, promoting academic success and leadership, and offering a support system, as well as cultural and educational benefits, for the African American and multicultural student body.

Chemistry Club

The Chemistry Club is made up of undergraduates who enjoy science and want to share their passion with others. The club engages in fun and exciting science activities with area school children and teachers to help spark a love of science among today’s youth. Plus, they're known across campus for their outstanding liquid nitrogen ice cream!

Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity (COTAD)

The Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity (COTAD) is a nonprofit organizations that serves as one of the world's premier occupational therapy institutions. Focused on addressing issues of systemic racism and oppression, occupational injustice, healthcare equity, and educational decolonization, Widener is pleased to have COTAD join the community.

The Color Guard pairs choreographed flag, riffle, and sabre routines to the music of the Marching Band.

Commuter Student Association (CSA)

Open to:

Undergraduate students

The Commuter Student Association is a group of student leaders dedicated to assisting commuter students through mentorship, advocacy, programming, outreach, and resource sharing. CSA hosts monthly meetings for commuter students to make connections and discuss community needs.

Computer Science Club

The Computer Science Club is a student-driven group that provides members with an opportunity to host social events such as game tournaments, movie nights, and the end-of-year barbeque. Club members also help the department host our annual events such as the High School Programming Contest and Community Tech Day.

Criminal Justice Organization

Undergraduate and graduate students

The Criminal Justice Organization is a club for criminal justice majors, minors, or others interested in the field to meet each other and learn more about criminal justice issues and careers. The club hosts the ongoing Crime Film Series on campus and runs the Widener chapter of No More © (together we can end domestic violence and sexual assault). CJO holds awareness raising events and designs and sells t-shirts that benefit local victim advocacy agencies.

Delta Phi Epsilon

Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority's mission is to develop women into successful students, and to be their authentic selves while being responsible citizens of the world. DPhiE focuses on creating leaders, promoting the education of women, and empowering them to take on the future.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (DST)

Undergraduate students

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is a private, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. The organization is a sisterhood of predominantly Black, college educated women. The Upsilon Pi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is chartered on the campus of Widener University.
