Sociology Department

The Sociology Department prepares students to study social life, social change, and the social causes and consequences of human behavior. Sociologists investigate the structure of groups, organizations, and societies, and how people interact within these contexts.

Speech-Language Pathology Clinic

The Speech-Language Pathology Clinic at Widener University offers evidence-based, pro bono speech and language therapy services to underserved members of the community, while offering on-campus clinical training experience to our graduate clinicians in speech-language pathology.

STEM Teaching Center

The STEM Teaching Center provides comprehensive outreach programs for public and private schools in the Greater Delaware Valley region. The center’s mission is to improve science education and help others understand the way the world works.

Student Health Services strives to educate students to responsibly seek appropriate health care for wellness, illness and injury. Services are offered to students across all three campuses with the exception of online students.

Student Inclusion & Belonging

The Office of Student Inclusion & Belonging (OSIB) is committed to fostering and enriching campus diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) by developing and implementing educational, cultural and social programs that will assist Widener University in the recruitment, orientation, retention, and graduation of multi-cultural and international students. The office promotes cultural understanding, an accepting and inclusive climate for all students and seeks to cultivate a respect for individual differences, and manages engaging programs such as the PRIDE Mentoring Program and 1821 Pre-Orientation Experience Program.

The Student Technology Support Center (STSC) is a walk-in support center where students can go for assistance with their computers and hand-held devices.

Taylor Arboretum at Widener University

Hours of Operation:

Daily, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Located in Nether Providence Township in Delaware County, PA, Taylor Arboretum at Widener University is a 30-acre reserve of plantings and natural lands dedicated by J. C. Taylor to the memory of his wife, Anne Rulon Gray, and intended to promote the "health, enjoyment and education of the public in perpetuity". The arboretum is open to the public free of charge.

Teacher Education & Certification

The Office of Teacher Education and Certification (OTEC) provides support to students seeking certification in the undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate levels.

Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT)

Technology is important in a university setting. Teaching and Learning Technologies allows an opportunity for students and faculty to learn and operate new software and technologies that are used daily in the classroom as well as the workplace.

Tutoring Services

Hours of Operation:

Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A trained staff of Widener students is available throughout the academic year for one-on-one tutoring at the student's request. Group sessions are also held for some courses to foster collaboration and group learning.
