Economics Major: Bachelor’s Degree in Business (BSBA)
Program Overview
Major in economics – and you’ll have the analytical skills that employers demand.
Here, we prepare you to think critically about how human behavior drives the economy and business world. Widener's economics major has two tracks from which you can choose: the general track or the financial planning track. Our industry-connected faculty will help chart your path with the aid of countless internship opportunities with Philadelphia’s global companies. By the time you graduate, you’ll be ready to pursue jobs in business and banking, law, education, information technology, and government – or you'll have a solid foundation to pursue graduate or law school.
The economics program ensures that all graduates bring a high degree of critical thinking to any career path. Students who have strong math skills typically excel in economics courses.
Economics majors have the option of taking the financial planning track, which prepares them to take the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards certification exam (CFP). See Loading....
In addition to being offered as a major, students interested in economics can also pursue a minor. This minor is designed for students who have an interest in economics, including the economic aspects of public policy issues and would like to broaden their knowledge of economic matters, as well as strengthen their powers of reasoning and analytical skills.
You may also choose from our expansive list of additional minors and certificates for undergraduate students to find unique combinations for your personal academic goals and unique career path.
Prepare for rapid career growth by completing two degrees in five years. When you graduate, you’ll receive a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in one of several graduate programs in the School of Business Administration.
Widener's economics program ensures students have the analytical skills that employers demand.
